a citizen, I have considered many times
Ogden’s historic past, the more recent
decades of economic difficulty and
Ogden’s great potential for the future. It
is important to remember the past and
the many wonderful things Ogden has
been and, at the same time, move
forward into a positive future, by taking
opportunities RIGHT NOW to help make
Ogden a place of choice.

Thousands of people lined the
streets of downtown Ogden on
Saturday, November 29, as the city
kicked off its Christmas festivities
with its annual Holiday Electric
Light Parade and Christmas
Village lighting ceremony.
Parade organizers estimate about
20,000 people turned out for the
event. “With roughly 100
volunteers and about 50 floats,
this is one of the largest
Christmas celebrations Ogden
has ever seen,” said Carolyn
Brierley, special event coordinator

It is exciting to see so many
wonderful things going on in
our community! With the
Junction under construction,
the popularity of 25th Street
and the amphitheater
continuing to grow, the nearing
completion of the parkway, the
river project, the
announcement of a Wal-Mart
to be built, the announcement
of retail big box interest on
12th Street, the continuing
success of our trail system
along the bench including the
connection of the north and
south ends of the Bonneville
Shorline Trail via the tunnel
completed recently under 12th
Street, Ogden is full of exciting
times and events.
I was walking down town
recently on a weekday evening
and there were people. Yes, I
said PEOPLE!
