The Ski Hub Concept is an organized effort by Ogden’s Mayor, Matthew Godfrey, and local business
leaders to actively seek out, engage and bring to Ogden City as many ski related companies as
possible. It is anticipated that this effort will make Ogden City a hub of economic activity based around
the synergy created by establishing, for the first time, a gathering place for ski related companies.
Already this concept has begun to resonate with many ski related businesses from across the
country. Currently, eight ski companies have committed to move portions of their companies into
Ogden City. There are several others that are currently in negotiation with the Administration and are
seriously interested in the efforts being made in Ogden City.
The current efforts to revitalize our downtown mall area, river redevelopment project area and the
proposed Urban Gondola, Mountain Gondola and Malan’s Basin Resort are having an impact on the
investment climate of our city. Even though many of these projects have not even begun, there is a
powerful momentum that is fueling a once in a lifetime economic excitement. This excitement is the
power that is reviving Ogden City from its long economic sleep and The Ski Hub Concept is the
vision that will, if pursued, rekindle the embers that once burned brightly under the economic influence
of the railroads.
In addition to the above outlined excitement, I have received several comments from professionals
about the local real estate market. The many things happening in Ogden are generating a buzz that
is putting Ogden property in demand and as demand increases, so will property values.
