Current Issues
2007 Budget
- Overview - Another tough budget year for Ogden City. Growing cost of living expenses are
expected to easily out pace Ogden City revenue sources. Therefore, the City Administration
has had to find approximately $1.5 million in other decreased expenses to balance the budget.
2008 Budget
- Overview - We are currently preparing for the 2008 Budget year. More info to follow.
Capital Improvement Plan
- Overview - Because there is little money left over from the operational expenses of the City,
there are few capital improvements that will be funded in this years budget. Even though there
are many needs all around the city, future revenues will have to be enhanced so that
increased taxes will not be required.
Transportation
- UTA Corridor Study - In October of 2005, a corridor study assessed the need for direct
transportation corridor between Ogden City downtown, Weber State University and the McKay-
Dee Hospital. This study recognized the need for the corridor and compared modes, potential
routes and number of stops. The study makes basic recommendations for each.
- Identified Transportation Corridors - UTA and the Wasatch Regional Council has also
identified several other potential corridors through Ogden City, and recommends that these
corridors be addressed at sometime in the future.
- Commuter Rail - Coming Soon!
12th Street Development
- 12th Street Corridor Plan - In 2005, the 12th Street corridor was identified as a key area of
growth for Ogden City. So that the growth was bound to an acceptable look and feel a corridor
plan was created by the Ogden City planning department to address the potential future
problems and expectations for growth.
- 12th Street Special Zone Overlay - Earlier this year the Ogden City planning staff and
Planning Commission recommended a special overlay zone outlined in the 12th Street corridor
plan. This overlay zone, which affected 12th Street East of Washington Blvd along both sides
of the street. The special overlay established strict design guidelines, but allowed many
different uses. The focus on high quality building materials, side and rear parking, special
design guidelines, etc. will help 12th Street develop as an aesthetically pleasing and unique
area to live or work.
